Michael John Christiansen
Sept. 14, 1950 ~ Aug. 29, 2024
JEROME - Michael John Christiansen, 73, passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer, surrounded by his family on Aug. 29, 2024. Michael was born to Willis and Mary Lou Hoggan Christiansen on Sept. 14, 1950 in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Michael was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was the second of four children. He was raised on a farm in Hunt, Idaho and graduated from Valley High School in 1968. Being raised on a farm, Michael learned, from his parents, integrity and the value of hard work, he carried these values with him throughout his life and passed them on to his children.
He served an L.D.S. mission from 1969-1971 in Singapore and Australia. He was a diligent missionary and had many great experiences.
After his mission he returned to Idaho and began farming, He met and then married his eternal companion, Anette Dilworth, in the Salt Lake Temple on June 22, 1973. After he was married, he continued farming and eventually took over the family farm in Hunt after his father passed away. He and his family later moved to Hailey, and he worked in construction and farming for a number of years.
Mike had many church callings, but his favorite was being the scout leader. He loved teaching the boys and going on their high adventure treks. He received several scouting awards including the Silver Beaver among others.
After he and Anette retired, they moved back to Jerome. Mike was loved by all he came in contact with.
He is survived by his wife, Anette; five children: Heather (Ariel), Craig (Natalie), Wendy (Joseph), Todd (Tana) and Kadee (Duncan); 15 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers and a sister: Neal, of Jerome, Idaho, Eric (Bev) of Provo, Utah and Coy (Larry) of Jerome, Idaho. He is now reunited with his parents, which will be a great reunion.
