Mildred Meuleman

HAZELTON - Mildred Juanita (Jones) Meuleman of Hazelton, Idaho passed away Thursday, October 26, 2023 at St Lukes Hospital Nampa, Idaho of natural causes. She had been living with her daughter Connie for the last 3 years.
Mildred was born March 25, 1932 in Jerome, Idaho to Gordon Raymond Jones and Callie Amelia Hartley and attended School in Twin Falls, Idaho until the summer after her sophmore year of high school when her family moved to Rupert.
She always said she thought the world was coming to an end because she had to move to Rupert. Guess who was waiting for her at Rupert High School "Guy Meuleman". Mildred graduated from Rupert High School in 1950. She Attended Twin Falls Business College to become a Medical Transcriptionist.
She worked at the Hospital and a doctor office in Burley. She started working at the Idaho Bank and Trust in Burley in later years.
Mildred married Guy Meuleman in 1955 when he joined the Army and they moved to Alamogordo, New Mexico where Guy was stationed at Holloman Air Force Base. When returning from New Mexico Guy and Mildred put their name in a draw for a Homestead farm in the Kasota Area and was the first name drawn.
They turned a piece of sagebrush into a beautiful home and farm with a lot of hard work. In 1973 Guy and Mildred along with Guy's brother Franklin V. Meuleman bought the Woolford Mills and changed the name to Snake River Seed. Mildred did the bookkeeping for the business until it closed last year.
Mildred was active in the Homestead Ladies Club, The Kasota Sage Hens, Soroptomist International Club of Minico and The First Baptist Church of Paul.
Mildred loved to travel and was able to see many places: New York, Washington DC, London, Scotland and a cruise to Alaska with Guy for there 50th Wedding Anniversary.
Mildred is survived by her daughter, Connie (Ray) Grondahl; grandson, Ryan (Brook) Grondahl; granddaughter, Cara (Nate) Sturlin; great-granddaughter's: Brooklyn Grondahl and Alyssa Sturlin; great-grandson's: Gavin Grondahl, Easton Sturlin, Gavin White and Gaige Lee; nephews: Wayne Meuleman, Steve Jones and Andy Jones; nieces: Bette Hovey and Billie Walker. She is preceded in death by her husband, Guy Meuleman, daughter, Gay Allyn Meuleman, brothers: Raymond Jones and Richard Jones, nephew, David Jones and her parents, Gordon Jones and Callie Jones Flegel. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 13, 2023 at Hansen Mortuary, Rupert, Idaho. Services are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.

Years ago, I was Mildred's Ice cream delivery man. She always answered the door with kind of a scowl, but within a couple of minutes I could have her chuckling, and telling stories. Mildred was a sweet-heart, and I'm sad to hear of her passing.
