Murlene Pruett Obituary
Murlene Pruett, 85, departed this Earth in the afternoon of December 5, 2024. She loved life, camping with family and friends, riding motorcycles in her younger years in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho, and yes, her hair and makeup were always done before a dusty bike riding day.
Born in Hailey Idaho to Murl and Darlene Helderman, she graduated from Gooding High School and went to Business School in Salt Lake City, UT. She married Ray Pruett in January 1962 - they would have celebrated their 63th anniversary next month. She went on to work for the Idaho Department of Transportation and in 1976 began working for the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, retiring from the state in 1998.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Darlene Helderman, Murl Helderman, and her sister, Rena (Royce) Abernathy.
Murlene was the kindest, sweetest, most giving person most of us will ever meet. She will forever live on in our memories, our hearts, and she will be eternally missed.
A celebration of life will be held December 20, 2024 at Rosenauer's Funeral Home at 2 p.m.

I worked with Marlene for many years at the Dept of Health and Welfare. She was always cheerful and had a positive outlook, even in times of workplace stress. This was back in the times pre PC, when a secretary typed letters, reports, etc. and Murlene was one of the few people who could decipher my chicken scratches, so I felt like she was my personal assistant. We enjoyed discussing our mutual camping hobby, but she always seemed to be able to top any story I had of occurrences up in the mountains. Sincere condolences to her family.

I attended Gooding High School my Jr and Sr years. We became friends and remained friends until I moved from Gooding. We had lots of fun and trials....along with experiencing several different hair colors! I am so sorry for your loss, Murlene was a good friend even though we lost contact, I often thought about her.

So very sad to read this. I don´t know what happened, but she was so so sweet. I used to groom little Biji for a few years-and my daughter took over being blessed by Murlene in Biji´s grooming. Murlene always had a smile and wonderful uplifting things to share; always encouraging.
I shall miss her. Condolences and prayers for Ray and her family and friends.
