Phyllis Ann (Bellon) Posey
July 11, 1941 - Jan. 2, 2024
POCATELLO - Phyllis Ann (Bellon) Posey, 82, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, passed away on January 2, 2024. She was born in Burley, Idaho on July 11, 1941, to Grace Ann (Engles) Bellon and Luther Jacob Bellon.
They moved back to North Dakota later in the same year to live with Grace's father on the farm because of the war in 1941. Her father eventually bought a farm on his own.
They moved back to Burley, Idaho in October of 1952. She graduated from Burley High School in 1959 and married Melvin Deloy Posey in Burley on February 27, 1960. They were later sealed in the Ogden, Utah LDS Temple.
After several moves around the west, they came back to the Burley/Paul area and raised their two children, Scott and Sherry, in the Paul/Emerson area among family and friends.
She served faithfully in Primary as a teacher, secretary, and President. She also served in Young Women, Relief Society, Stake extraction, and as a temple worker in the Idaho Falls Temple.
After her husband retired, they spent several winters in Yuma, Arizona with friends. They also moved to Chubbuck to be closer to family.
Phyllis loved her grandchildren and loved traveling and camping with them. They traveled together to the Oregon coast, Disneyland, Calgary, Canada and to Nauvoo, Illinois. Mel and Phyllis were also able to go on an Alaskan Cruise for their 50th anniversary.
She also loved attending her grandchildren's sporting events. She was very proud of all of her grandchildren and their accomplishments. She loved scrapbooking and showing her grandchildren how it was done. She enjoyed working in the yard and outdoors all summer long. She loved her home and decorating it the way she thought looked nice.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, Mel; her children, Scott (Valerie) Posey of Powell Butte, Oregon and Sherry (Lynn) VanEvery of Pocatello, Idaho; her five grandchildren, Jacob and Cassidy Posey, Jordan (Christina) VanEvery, Breanne (Shelton) Robinson, Ashlyn (Conner) Lamont; two great-granddaughters, Reggie and Ruby; and sister, Peggy Onishi of Chubbuck, Idaho. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Benny and Hank Bellon, and parents, Luther and Grace Bellon.
The family is so grateful for all the service and care given.

Phyllis was my bus driver for a lot years in grade school. I was the second stop on the bus and spent a lot of mornings bothering her. Always right behind her in my assigned seat. She was a good person not to just run me down as bad as I was. I missed her when she got a different rt. I was 10. God bless you Phyllis. RIP
