Richard Roemer Obituary

Richard "Dick" Roemer, 73, passed away peacefully at his home in Twin Falls, Idaho, on September 11, 2025, surrounded by family and love.

Born on January 1, 1952, in Burley, Idaho, to Richard and Corienne Roemer, Dick grew up in the Rupert and Kasota areas and graduated from Minico High School in 1970. He went on to earn his pharmacy degree from Idaho State University in 1975, where he also met the love of his life, Therese Fischer. The two were married on June 8, 1976, beginning nearly five decades of devotion and partnership.

After graduation, Dick began his career with Osco Drug as an assistant store manager in Richland, Washington and Wenatchee, Washington before transferring in 1977 to Osco in Twin Falls as a pharmacist. There, he and Therese made their home and raised their three daughters, whom he considered his greatest achievements. Dick served his community with kindness and dedication as a pharmacist for decades, working at Shopko and later at Kurt's Pharmacy, working side by side with his fraternity brother and lifelong friend, Kurt Hefner. He retired in 2016 after a long career of caring for others.

At the age of 15, Dick was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, a challenge he faced with resilience. In May 2016, he received the extraordinary gift of a kidney from his sister-in-law, Kas Fischer, a blessing that gave him nearly ten more years with his beloved family.

Beyond his profession, Dick lived life with energy and joy. He was always active, whether playing a round of golf, picking up a tennis racket, or working in his garden. A talented pianist, he filled his home with music, and he delighted in sharing his love of both melodies and numbers - never missing an opportunity to dive into a conversation about taxes.

Dick is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Therese; his daughters and their spouses, Keri and Christopher DeLucia, Kristen and Peter Coates, and Kelli Roemer and Ry Phipps; his cherished grandchildren, Samuel and Adam DeLucia, and Thomas and Ella Coates; and his siblings, Diane Neale, Ron Roemer, and Rob Roemer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Corienne Roemer.

He will be remembered always for his steady presence, quick wit, generosity, and the deep love he had for his family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 27 at 5:00 p.m. at the Stonehouse in Twin Falls, Idaho. All who knew and loved him are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association or any charity you support.

Earlier today

Therese and family, I want to express my deepest sorrow when hearing of the loss of Dick. Played city league basket ball for a year with him and we dueled on the tennis court (Dick was better than me). He was a good man and most importantly, a good person. So sorry.
