Virgil McBride Obituary

Virgil Ray McBride

December 13, 1935 - February 1, 2025

Virgil Ray McBride, 89, of Twin Falls, Idaho, returned home to his Heavenly Father and sweetheart Peggy Jean McBride on Saturday morning, February 1, 2025.

Ray was born December 13, 1935 in Twin Falls, Idaho. The son of Virgil and Ida McBride, he was the baby of eight children. He grew up and attended schools in Twin Falls, graduating from Twin Falls High School in 1954.

Ray Married the love of his life, Peggy Jean Hurlburt, on April 13, 1957, in Twin Falls. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on May 8th, 1975. Together they raised two children, Randy and Manon. After Peggy's passing, he found companionship with Sadie Messner and stayed very close friends to the end.

Ray's life work has always involved auto and diesel repair. He worked for many businesses here in the Twin Falls Valley, as well as owning and operating McBride Service. He was dependable, honest, and hard working. Ray was also very involved in various community services. Some of these included Twin Falls Search and Rescue and being a Twin Falls County Sheriff's Reserve Deputy. He was never idle, always keeping busy.

Ray had many passions. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping with friends and family. He loved teaching his grandchildren how to do the same. He was a member of the Elks Club. He was a member of the LDS Church. He and Peggy touched many lives as they served as stake dance directors through the years. He also loved traveling the world with his wife and found ways to serve even while abroad. Ray was a surrogate to many. He may not have gone to church every Sunday, just every day!

Ray was the last surviving sibling of eight. He is survived by his two children, Manon (David) Andreason of Albion, and Randy McBride and Brent Sager of Jerome. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Shane Andreason, Alyse (Shane) Ramsey, Ryan Andreason, Danielle (Nathan) Garner, Joel (Amanda) Andreason; and eight great-grandchildren, Kaden, Kaiya, Blakely, Delaina, Stockton, Danny, Roczen, and Deegen. He is also survived by many extended family members, too numerous to mention.

A celebration of Ray's life was held at 2 p.m. at Reynolds Funeral Chapel, 2466 Addison Avenue East, Twin Falls, Idaho. Prior to the services a viewing was held at 1 p.m. at the same location. For those who cannot attend, a link to a live feed of the services will be available on Reynolds website.

Until I started doing genealogy work I wasn't even aware that I had a Great Uncle McBride called Ray, I'm am greatly saddened to hear of his passing.
Yet I am very grateful to have met Ray and spoken with him over the years.
My Great Uncle Ray McBride was a good man, I had never seen the nicer side of the McBride family before meeting him, my dad and his brother having been having been disconnected from my own grandpa McBride, but Ray showed me what a real McBride could be, he showed me the best part of our family and I only wish to emulate his values throughout this life.
With love from the Pocatello McBride's (Dan, Jesse & Andrew) rest in peace Ray, thank you for being a great example!

Ray was a good man, a smart man, a kind man, a busy man, and a man with a great sense of humor. I always enjoyed my time with him and the conversations we had. I will miss him.
