Walter T. Ranft

Aug. 24, 1937 - May 14, 2024

FILER - On May 14, 2024, Walter T. Ranft, of Filer, ID, passed away peacefully in his sleep. Walter was born on August 24, 1937, 86 years ago, in Beadle Co., South Dakota to Walter L. Ranft and Elizabeth (Marco) Ranft. Walt grew up in Central South Dakota with two sisters and four brothers.

He served in the Army from 1955 until 1958.

After returning home, in 1960 he married Rose Daphnia (Miles) Ranft.

He is survived by his loving wife, of nearly 64 years; and his three daughters: Karla Jean Long (Paul) of Twin Falls, ID, Karen Louise Lohnes (Verlyn) of Mayfield, UT and Kathy Marie Dahl (Norman) of Safford, AZ; also survived by two brothers: William Ranft of South Dakota and Leroy Ranft of Arkansas; one sister, Caroline Foreman of South Dakota; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Walt was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Ramona Orr of Wisconsin, and two brothers: Robert Ranft and James Ranft both of South Dakota.

He will be cremated with a private family service later in South Dakota.

So sorry to read about Walt's passing to Heaven. Walt was a wonderful neighbor, and you and Walt were a hoot to converse with. Walt will be surely missed and I want you to know I pray God to keep a close eye on you with his arms around your shoulders.
