Andrew G. Zenko Sr.

Andrew "Andy" Zenko Sr., age 81, peacefully passed away on July 29, 2024, after battling Alzheimer's. He was born on March 2, 1943 and joins his wife of over 50 years, Susan Mary (Davies) Zenko, who died in 2017. Andy was a proud graduate of "The Rayen School" of Youngstown and went on to study accounting at YSU, but ultimately followed his passion for service enlisting in the US Army. While stationed in Butzbach Germany, he was quickly promoted to Sergeant. Upon returning to Youngstown after his military commitment, he began climbing telephone poles for Ohio Bell as an installer and transitioned into a management position from which he retired at age 48. He raised his family in Hubbard and gave back to the community by coaching little league baseball for almost 20 years and later as a member of the "Brothers Club" group. Andy's passions included being a talented woodworker and a lifelong gym rat. At age 50, he proudly bench-pressed 325 pounds, winning a local weightlifting competition. Andy had a farm in West Middlesex, PA where he raised longhorn cattle for several years after he retired. He and his wife Sue enjoyed winters in Florida and traveling. He also enjoyed fishing, both locally and on a yearly trip to Canada with his buddies. Andy also loved sports and was a fan of the Buckeyes, Guardians, Browns, YSU and the Hubbard Eagles. Andy leaves behind three children: Michelle Zenko MD, Andy Zenko Jr. (and Grandson Jacob) and Matthew Zenko, Esq., CPA (and wife Meghan Zenko, Esq. and Granddaughter Maeve), and his brother Ronald Sr. Andy is predeceased by his brothers George and Alex ("Sonny") (and wife Becky) Zenko and his sister-in-law Charlotte Zenko. There will be services held on Thursday August 8, 2024 at 10:30 AM with calling hours prior to the service from 9 AM to 10:30 AM at Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home followed by immediate interment at Belmont Park Cemetery with military honors provided by VFW Post 9571 and a lunch to follow at StoneBridge Grille and Tavern.
