Anne Misel Obituary

Anne L. Misel, 75, of Niles, passed away on Friday March 10, 2023 at Hospice of The Valley Hospice House in Poland. She was born June 10, 1947 in Fall River, Massachusetts the daughter of Alban and Corinthe Hardy Richard. Anne attended Bridgewater State College in Bridgewater, Massachusetts and graduated from Youngstown State University in 1995 with a degree in social work. She was employed as a social worker most recently at Belmont Pines Hospital in their Partial Hospitalization Program. She retired in 2017. Working with children, adolescents, and their families was rewarding to Anne. She also made friendships that lasted past retirement. Amy Bowers, who worked with Anne, and her family always had a special place in Anne's heart. Anne also worked for 19 years with John N. Fusco D.D.S. in Niles as a dental assistant and receptionist. Anne married Richard C. Misel(Rick) on November 30, 1968 at St. Jean- Baptiste Catholic Church in Fall River. During their 53 years of marriage they traveled to New England many times. After retirement Rick and Anne enjoyed their trips to Nevada, Florida, California, and Hawaii. For six years during the 1980's the family was involved with The Warren Junior Military Band with their son Patrick playing the trumpet following in his dad's footsteps. This was a fun and active time for the whole family. In 1985 they traveled to Europe for marching band competitions. They were well received in each city. His grandma Helen Misel joined the trip. Ann was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Niles, Eucharistic Minister, and charter member of The Reach-Out Committee. She was also a member of Niles Catholic Women's Club and served as treasurer in the 1990's. Anne was facilitator of the Niles Chapter of The Compassionate Friends following the death of their daughter Pamela Ann. She will be sadly missed by husband Richard, their son Patrick Misel and his wife Kathy of Poland, and two grandchildren, Michael and Gina who brought Anne unmeasureable joy and pride. Watching them grow and develop the love of music was great fun. Both of them followed their grandfather and father and played the trumpet. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Ronald Misel of Niles, many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two children, John and Pamela Anne Misel, her brother Robert A. Richard and his wife Patricia Henaire Richard, and her in-laws Walter and Helen Havaich Misel. Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 7PM at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
