Bessie Razzano Obituary
Bessie Lee (Vergis) Razzano of Warren, went to join her husband Peter Razzano in their heavenly afterlife on July 1st. She passed peacefully at the age of 90 in her home and surrounded by family.
Bessie was born on September 4th, 1934 in Weirton WV. She graduated from Weir High in 1952. She had a brief career as a telephone operator and marveled her granddaughters with stories of the giant switchboard she worked on. She married her husband of 53 years, Peter Razzano, on April 24 1955. Bessie and Pete raised two strong and independent daughters, Patricia (Razzano) Hall and Stacy Razzano. Bessie is preceded in death by her husband Pete, her daughter Patricia Hall, her sister Dolores Satterfield, her brother Nicholas Kolakis, her mother Elizabeth Kolakis, and her father Christopher Vergis.
Bessie was an amateur bird enthusiast and loved to share tales of the bird on bird drama going on between her most frequent avian visitors. She had a way of telling and retelling stories that made you want to listen. Bessie's fondness for animals didn't stop at birds; throughout her life she has taken in so many different kinds of animals that she would often tell her daughters "no more strays!" when they would leave the house, knowing if a homeless cat or dog crossed their house's threshold, her heart couldn't turn them away. Amongst the several cats and dogs over her 90 years of life, she also cared for two raccoons (Paco and Deliliah), a pig (Homer), and a goat (Barney). Her most loyal and final animal companion, her dog Trooper, will surely be happily greeting her at the gates of heaven.
Bessie was an avid reader, tended a lush garden for many years, and dabbled in craft making. She always encouraged others in their creative pursuits and would gladly swap methods with you or just listen as you shared your current interest or hobby. Bessie, above all, enjoyed learning. Bessie is missed and loved by her surviving family, her daughter Stacy Razzano (partner Violet Liguris), her granddaughter Ashley Hall (partner Johnny Vasquez and daughter Eliana Vasquez), her granddaughter Erin Riccardi (husband Stephen Riccardi), her sister Helen Tsiftis and so many of her dear friends who loved her.
Friends and family may gather from 10:00 am until service starts at 12:00 pm at the Carl W. Hall Funeral home on Saturday, July 5, 2025. She will be laid to rest privately with her beloved husband at Champion Township Cemetery.
