Bill Santell Obituary

Bill Santell, 78, of Niles passed away on Monday March 3, 2025 at University Hospital Cleveland Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born October 12, 1946 in Lewes, Delaware the son of Umberto "Jack" and Naomi Schirmer Santell and was raised in Warren, Ohio. Bill retired from General Motors Lordstown, enjoyed playing the lottery and making pizzelle cookies. He was also a woodworker, and playing Santa during Christmas brought him much joy. He served in The United States Navy during The Vietnam War as the ships chef. Once home he had many jobs including cooking at Hiram College and for The Cleveland Browns. Bill was very active in his children's lives from being a soccer coach and helping with pinewood derbies. He will be sadly missed by his wife Diane DeLung Santell whom he married August 28, 1971, two sons, William Santell and his wife Debra of Canfield and Brett Santell of Niles, a daughter Lisa Mozzillo and her husband Bobby of Girard, five grandchildren, Santino Mozzillo, Arianna Mozzillo, and William Santell Jr., Kaylee Onderko and her husband Nick, and Daniel Kapalko, great grandson Theodore Onderko, two sisters, Anna Griffith of Arizona and Marguerite Fuchilla of Warren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Sam and Bert Santell. Per Bill's wishes there will be no services.
