Charles W. Haner, 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 19, 2025.
Charles was the son of the late Frank and Joyce Haner. Charles was married to the love of his life Rosemary (Novak) Haner for over 51 years.
Charles had a distinguished career of over 32 years with the Albany Police Department starting out with the Arbor Hill Neighborhood Police Unit for many years. He retired as a Lieutenant in the ID unit.
He loved history, his Bible and traveling. Traveled 49 states and many countries in Europe. He also loved his trips to NYC and Boston.
Charles is survived by his step daughters, Donna (Erni) Rieck, Mary (Jerry) Hirsch, Brenda (Peter) Rossi and Antoinette (Michael) Guenette. His daughters Elizabeth Bousquet and Kimberly Bouvie. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, New York on Friday January 24, 2025 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Memory Gardens, Colonie, NY.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY10306 in Charles memory.
