Charles Lanterman, 85, of Canfield, died Monday evening at St. Elizabeth/Mercy Health Medical Center, Youngstown.
Charles was born November 17, 1938 in Canfield, the son of Frank J. and Laura (Cochel) Lanterman and was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Canfield High School and was a veteran of the United States Army.
Charles worked as a machinist for Baird Brothers for many years, where he retired. Charles was an avid gardener and grew many giant pumpkins (as large as 1200 pounds), winning ribbons at the Canfield Fair and Park’s Garden Center. He also raised and showed his roosters, winning trophies and ribbons that he was very proud of. Charles was also an avid bowler.
Charles is survived by his children, Connie (Craig) Wagner of New Middletown, Charles (Janet) Lanterman, Jr. of Salem, Dawn Lanterman of Austintown, Amy (Mike) Forinash of New Waterford and five grandchildren. Charles is also survived by his siblings; Jack Lanterman of Salem, Evelyn Prozy of Lake Milton, William Lanterman of Diamond, Phyllis Harmon of Berlin Center, James Lanterman of Canfield, and Dale Lanterman of Canfield.
Besides his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his siblings Dolores Yeager, Bernice Pike, George Lanterman and Frank Lanterman.
Friends may call on Monday, July 22nd at Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel from 10:00 am until 12:15.p.m. , followed by the funeral service at 12:30 p.m
