Charles Wagoner Obituary

YOUNGSTOWN - Charles N.G. "Charley" Wagoner Sr., 35, passed away Monday, Sept. 8, 2025, at Omni Manor Health Care, surrounded by family and friends, following complications related to diabetes. Charley was born July 21, 1990, in Youngstown, a son of Grant Wagoner and Lynn Musgrave Wagoner. He was a 2009 graduate of Ida S. Baker High School and became a state-tested nursing assistant in 2010. He worked at various nursing homes in the area before becoming disabled. Charley enjoyed following the stock market, keeping up with politics and world news, and going to the casino. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. Anyone who knew Charley knew that he was always ready for an adventure. He had a unique gift for keeping those around him smiling and grounded. His witty sense of humor would uplift the spirits of family and friends alike, a trait that will be dearly missed. He was a beloved father, son, grandson, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew and friend, and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched. He leaves his mother, Lynn (Edmond) McElroy Jr. of Youngstown; his father, Grant (Nancy) Wagoner of Florida; a son, Charles Wagoner Jr. of Youngstown; a daughter, Ceara Wagoner of Youngstown; and a niece, Kiayah Wagoner of Youngstown, whom he loved as one of his own. He also leaves a half brother, Austin Wagoner of North Carolina; a half sister, Bianca Wagoner of Florida; stepbrothers, Edmond (Paris) McElroy III of Youngstown and Zeno Glover of Florida; stepsisters, Nichole Hewlett and Kayla Dustman, both of Youngstown, and Melisa Peterson and Ashley Glover, both of Florida; grandmothers, Lois (Hixon) Musgrave of Youngstown and Vivian (Underwood) McElroy of Struthers; a grandfather, Dennis Wills of Pennsylvania; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Charley was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Quest Wagoner; and grandparents, Charles and Janet (Humphries) Wagoner, Allan Ferguson Sr. and Nancy (Pasha) Ferguson, and Edmond McElroy Sr. His family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Heartland Hospice for the care, compassion and love they provided. In keeping with Charley's wishes, a memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, 2025, at Upper Room Ministries, 4009 Elmwood Ave., Austintown, OH 44515. All are welcome to attend.
