Late
Curtis Ellington
May 12, 1951 – September 19, 2025
Curtis Ellington was born on May 12, 1951, to Roy and Eddye Ellington in the lovely town of Brundidge, Alabama. He was the second child of his parents; his siblings Lorraine Ellington Jackson's oldest sister and their younger sister, the late Patricia Ann Ellington, who passed in 2012. The family relocated to Detroit, Michigan, in the late 1960s with their parents.
Curtis attended Cass Technical High School and graduated top of his class with honors in 1969. He never pursued college, but he was determined to make an honest living for his family and sought employment in the auto industry in Detroit, Michigan.
In 1969, Curtis and Natalie Ellington married, and the union produced a beautiful daughter, Carmen Ellington, born on April 21, 1970. She now resides in Seattle, Washington, with her children and family.
His employment as a Quality Line Foreman afforded him various opportunities to advance into higher-level positions. He received numerous awards as a top lineman in the auto industry. He was an avid member of the UAW and served for many years as a union representative. He was employed at Chrysler for 30+ years until his retirement in 2023. He decided to transfer and relocate as Chrysler moved a few good employees to a sister plant in Cleveland, Ohio.
His interests were sports such as football and basketball. His favorite teams were the Detroit Lions and the Detroit Pistons. He loved going to the games every Thanksgiving holiday with the family as a tradition.
Later in life, Curtis found true love with Zeniva Brown and the two married on July 20th, 2007, in Memphis, Tenn., while attending their first Brown Family reunion. They relocated in 2012 from Detroit, Michigan, to Cleveland, Ohio, to seek new opportunities in life. The two enjoyed family gatherings, cooking on the grill, spending holidays with friends, and their small dog named Sam.
His memory will be cherished by his lovely wife, Zeniva Brown-Ellington, sister Lorraine Jackson, daughter Carmen Goers, grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services for Curtis will be conducted at a later date.
