David, also known as "Big Brother" to me and as "Seymore" to his friends, came into this life a three pound premie with many challenges ahead, but he fought them all and grew up to be almost larger than life. His fighting nature was ever present, but hidden inside of him was a heart the size of Mt. Everest and he was a man with a strong faith in God. As a matter of fact, he was clearly able to speak the "The Our Father" prayer from start to finish up until his final days... a small miracle in and of itself!
The last four plus years his life would have caused most of us to crumble, but not my brother. He still saw value in his life and found joy in living. I so admired that about him. I admired his ability to accept and make the best of a situation that left him unable to write, walk, or communicate.
In spite of tremendous pain, he continued his fight up until his last day. David's life was never easy, but when he smiled or gave you that grin of his, you couldn't help but to smile back. I will miss that smile more than anything, but I am confident he is now at peace with our mom, dad, and brother, Raymond. He is walking, talking, and forever will be grinning that grin. Someday, I look forward to seeing that smile again.
I love you, David, and you will always be in my heart and a part of my soul....never to be forgotten. Rest easy now Big Brother as, praise God, your days of suffering are over
