Dominic A. "Dino" Raco Sr.

Canfield--Dominic A. Raco, 84, of Canfield, lovingly known as "Dino," passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024. He was born on December 20, 1939 in the town of Cirella in Reggio Calabria, Italy and immigrated to the United States at the age of 16. He brought with him a relentless work ethic, an entrepreneurial spirit and a deep love for his family and community. He was a true self-made man. Over the course of his life, he built a legacy of success through hard work and determination. He started out as a barber, earned his real estate license and then progressed into owning multiple commercial properties including a car dealership, laundromat, convenience store and apartment complex. His main passion was owning and operating Dino's Restaurant for 43 years. Dino's became a place where families and friends gathered, forming lasting memories over good food and hospitality. In addition to his entrepreneurial endeavors, he was known for his generosity and his deep pride in his Italian heritage. Dominic is survived by his loving wife, the former Colleen Chick, of 45 years; son, Dominic Raco of Canfield; daughter Natalie Corcoran (T.J.) of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; grandchildren, Aidan, Ronan, Caitlin, Keelan, Meghan and Quinn; sister Joanne Carlon (Martin) of New Middletown; and brother Father Francesco Raco of Papua New Guinea. Dominic was preceded in death by his parents Antonio and Elizabeth Yeropoli; two sisters, Mary Polito, and Josephine Buffano; and nephew, Martin Carlon, Jr. Family and friends may pay their respects from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2024 at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Avenue in Boardman. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Michael Parish in Canfield.
