Donald U. Kimerer , 90 of Youngstown passed away Thursday evening, June 6th at Caprice Healthcare Center.
Donald was born July 15, 1933 in Akron, a son of the late Harry and Margarette (Sterner) Kimerer and came to this area in the 60’s. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. Donald worked for 10 years for the Ohio State Penitentiary as a prison guard. He then worked in security plant protection for General Motors, Lordstown Plant for 24 years, retiring in 1992.
Donald was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and the Moose Lodge of Port Clinton. He enjoyed many years of boating on Berlin Lake and later at Lake Erie. He looked forward to traveling and enjoyed his many cruises, and his trips to Hawaii and Alaska. Most importantly, Donald loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Donald was preceded in death by his wife, the former Evon Ann Beckwith, whom he married June 22, 1957. He leaves his son, Kenneth (Cindy Bella) Kimerer, daughter Kimberly (Robert) Walters and son Kerry Kimerer. Donald will be missed by his grandchildren Cody (Yvonne)Wyatt, Carly (Mason) Morris, Alexis (George)Grady and Kyle Kimerer, as well as by his great-grandchildren, Trevor, Mya, Spencer, Brooklynn, Georgie, Maddy and Riley. Donald also leaves his loving companion, Patricia Honen. Besides his parents and his wife, Donald was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Kimerer.
A celebration of the life of Donald U. Kimerer will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, June 12th at 11:00 am, where friends may call from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made in Donald’s memory to Hospice of the Valley, 9803 Sharrott Rd., Youngstown 44514
