Evelyn MORRIS

Evelyn Morris, 92, of 4780 Kirkwood Road, Austintown, OH departed this life Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at 1:17 p.m. at Austin Woods Nursing Center, following complications from an extended illness. She was born September 23, 1932 in White Plains, NY, the daughter of James and Susie Adams Roache, residing in the area since 1990, coming from Tuckahoe, NY. Evelyn was employed with the Gestetner Corporation for 30 years as a Supervisor, before retiring. She also worked for the West Co-op Foster Grandparents program and graduated from White Plains High School. She was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church in Tuckahoe, the Eastern Stars and enjoyed reading, gambling, going to the casinos, playing poker and weekend poker parties. She will be remembered for her love of jelly beans. She married Hazzie Morris Jr. November 8, 1953, he died May 13, 1998. She leaves to mourn one daughter, Ms. Deborah Sharon Morris Mayes of Austintown; three grandchildren, Sam Mayes, Greg Mayes and Ms. Krista Mayes Wallace; six great-grandchildren, Ms. Maliya Mayes, Ms. Evie Mayes, Landon Mayes, Jonah Mayes, Deacon Mayes and Nehemiah Wallace; two nieces, Ms. Brenda Walker of New York and Mrs. Patricia (Darris) Sydnor Young of California; two nephews, Keith Walker and Jerome Roache and a host of relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Ms. Mary Roache Walker and one brother, James "Sonny" Roache. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Chapel. Burial will take place at Pineview Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements of comfort were handled by the Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Home.
