Fatima Fareed Obituary
Fatima R. Fareed, of Campbell, Ohio, passed away on September 28, 2025. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, and friend whose presence brought joy and warmth to everyone who knew her. The Mansfield native, born December 19, 1955, relocated to the Youngtown area in her teens with her family.
A 1974 graduate of South High, Fatima's journey led her to Youngstown State University where she successfully obtained her associate degree in Computer Application & Office Technology and Data Entry.
Life experiences and academics nurtured her love for the written word. Her talent blossomed as evidenced through her published work My Life In Poem, a compilation of poetry and authored book, with a second work awaiting its moment to shine in the literary horizon. Through her words, she inspired many, encapsulating the beauty and struggles of life.
Fatima lived her life as a free spirit, embracing every moment with laughter, love, and creativity. She found joy in dancing and singing and appreciated classic R&B music. Embracing the power and purpose of the pen, she poured her heart into writing poems and books that reflected her unique outlook on life.
Traveling was one of her greatest pleasures-she especially cherished her trips to New York and Washington, where she gathered inspiration and beautiful memories.
Professionally, Fatima was a former floor supervisor at Dinesol and most recently at Consumer Support Services, which provides housing and support to individuals with different learning and physical capabilities.
Above all, Fatima was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was proud of the love she shared with her children, always placing family at the center of her heart. Her nurturing spirit, kind smile, and encouraging words will be deeply missed.
Fatima is survived by her mother Aaliyah Fareed; son LaQuawn Smith; granddaughter Paris Grantz; brothers Ali Fareed, Shahid Fareed, Hakim Fareed, Rashid Fareed and sister-in-law, Betty McPhatter and a host of relatives and friends.
Fatima was preceded in death by her father Muhammad Fareed; brothers, Aziz Fareed, Abdul Fareed, Amir Fareed; sister Tandra Powell, grandmother Mable Morrison; aunt Eddie Ree Clinkscale; nephew Abdullah Fareed.
Join us in reflecting on her legacy, as we celebrate the love, creativity, and inspiration she gifted us all. As we gather to celebrate Fatima's life, the family invites all who knew her or were touched by her words to share with them.
There will be a public viewing on Tuesday October 7, 2025, at 1:00 PM in the chapel of the J.E. Washington Funeral Services, 2234 Glenwood Ave, Youngstown. A Celebration of Life service for Fatima, who truly lived with passion, creativity, and love, will commence at 2:00pm with Rev. Lewis Macklin as the celebrant.
Let us remember Fatima not with sorrow, but with gratitude for the beauty she brought into our lives. Her legacy of strength, creativity, and free spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her.
