Gary J. Persino Sr.

CORTLAND – Gary J. Persino, Sr., age 75, entered into eternal rest Monday, May 20, 2024 at home. He was born May 5, 1949 in Warren, the son of Edward and Mary (Schrecengost) Persino Lower. A graduate of McDonald High School, Gary grew up loving baseball and the Cleveland Indians. His early years taught him family love and tempered his resourcefulness. He lived by the credos of hard work and tough love. The consummate family man, he handed this down to his family through his quiet strength. Multi-talented, he was good with his hands and worked as a sheet metal worker with Local 33 until his retirement. Throughout his life he was a talented woodworker, enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golf, relished time with family, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was his own man. He liked what he liked and lived life on his terms. Precious memories of Gary live on with his beloved wife of nearly thirty-three years, Sheila (Sexton) Persino, whom he married June 11, 1991; four children: Stacy Hyde of Portland, Ore., Kimberly Vaughn of Vienna, Jamie Persino (Jennifer) of Cortland, and Melanie Boggs of Lordstown; three grandchildren: Samuel Vaughn, Meliah Persino, and Sydney Persino; his sister, Betty Reynolds (Tommy) of Ravenna; and his brother, Edward Persino, Jr. (Lisa) of Newton Falls. Preceding him in death are his father, his mother, and his stepfather who raised him, Robert H. Lower. Gary's good life will be celebrated from 12:00 to 2:00 pm Sunday, May 26, 2024 at CharBenay's Wine on the River, 220 W. Market St., Warren, Ohio 44481.
