George Huggins Obituary
Struthers - George H. Huggins, 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House, surrounded by his family.
George was born on October 25, 1933, in Martinsburg, Ohio, a son of the late Ralph and Grace (Burger) Huggins. He was raised on a farm in Danville, OH and attended Martinsburg Elementary School and later, Danville High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Following his military service, George settled in Youngstown, Ohio, where he built a life grounded in hard work and deep family values.
He owned and operated George Anne's Swap Shop in downtown Struthers for over 20 years. George was a skilled carpenter, he worked for 15 years at Ostovich Construction in Struthers before becoming disabled.
George enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and found joy in nature. He took great pride in maintaining the flower beds around his home and especially in the pond he lovingly built and cared for, which became a haven for fish and turtles. He also cherished camping trips with family and friends, creating lasting memories under the stars.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, the former Judith M. Dahl, whom he married on November 19, 1984; four children, Kathleen "Kathi" A. Dahl of Glenshaw, PA, Timothy A. (Helen) Huggins of Deland, FL, Richard K. (Patti) Huggins of Columbiana, OH, and Anthony M. (Caly) Huggins of Myrtle Beach, SC; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and his sister, Barb Hipp of Mansfield, OH.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Huggins and Clyde Huggins; and his brother-in-law, Dave Hipp.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. at Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main Street in Poland. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Reverend Mike Byus. Interment will take place on Friday, August 29, 2025 at 12:15 p.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Seville, OH with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, OH 44512, in George's memory.
