George Matsis Obituary

George Michael Matsis Born February 25, 1944-Died May 25, 2025 George Matsis was born on February 25, 2025, in Canonsburg, PA to Michael and Georgia Makris Matsis. George and his family moved to Farrell, PA in 1949 and George was a 1962 graduate of Farrell High School. George attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City and later attended and graduated from Youngstown University in 1967 with a degree in Business Administration. He taught Middle School in Ashtabula and Akron, Ohio until moving to Chicago in 1975. In Chicago he worked in circulation for the Chicago Tribune and later worked in the hospitality industry. After moving back to his home town George worked as a Behavioral Health Technician for Comprehensive Children's Services. George was preceded in death by his parents Georgia Matsis and Michael Matsis and his two beloved sisters Ruby Matsis Rood (Robert) and Audrey Matsis. He is survived by a brother, John Matsis (Rebecca), nephews R. Michael Rood (Jennifer) and Michael Matsis (Kristin), nieces Alicia Epps (Thomas) and Alexandra Matsis, and great nephews Brennan Epps and Nicolas Epps.
