Herb Douda Obituary

Herb J. Douda, 76, of Youngstown, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 24, 1949 in Heidelberg, Germany. He was adopted by his service parents, 2nd Lt. Army Nurse Anna E. Thompson Douda and Lt. Col. Joseph L. Douda. Herb and his parents lived in New Jersey before making their way to Ohio in 1957. He attended Poland Seminary High School as well as Youngstown State University. Herb was employed for 30 years at General Motors and was a member of the UAW 1112. He officially retired on January 1, 1997. He had many interests in life. Herb enjoyed car racing, building, a member of the Road Knights. He was a history buff and always willing to learn. A Christian at heart he loved reading the Bible, playing guitar, gardening, jigsaw puzzles and video games. Most of all, his family was his whole world and he was proud of each one of them. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife and the love of his life, Debbie Graffius Douda, whom he married August 26, 1967; his children, Sharyn Marie (Shawn) Scheetz of Boardman, OH, Allison Ann (Dale) Harris of Murrysville, PA, and James H. (Carrie Theodore) Douda of Boardman, OH; his four grandchildren, who were the light of his life, Alex Scheetz, Rachel Harris, Drew Harris, and Nathan Harris. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no calling hours or services.
