Irma Colby Obituary

Irma J. Colby of Girard passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 4:15 p.m. in Hospice House Poland. She was 81. Irma was born in Poland, OH on April 14, 1942, the daughter of the late Harold and Thelma Austin Anderson. She was a 1960 graduate of Poland High School. She was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. Irma was of Methodist faith. She enjoyed traveling to Florida to visit with her sister, going to garage sales, and a day of shopping especially at her favorite store, Boscovs. Irma loved listening to country music, dancing, and going out to dinner with friends and family. Her husband, Charles E. Colby whom she married December 10, 1960, passed away on May 30, 2007. She is survived by a son Charles D. Colby of Poland, OH; 3 siblings, Shirley M. Bodine of Port Orange, FL, Allen Lee Anderson of Cornersburg, OH, and Violet Huseman of Poland, OH; 2 grandchildren, Jamie, and William; 3 great grandchildren, Tyler, Bryan, and Aerie; a son-in-law, David Thompson of Girard; her loving companion of 16 years, Larry Hillier of Niles; a sister in law, Janet Anderson; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Irma was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Lynn Thompson; a brother, Ronald Anderson.
