James Scerba Obituary
Warren - James Stephen Scerba, 54, passed away suddenly on Monday, January 29, 2024, at his home.
Jim was born on May 3, 1969, in Youngstown, a son of Stephen James Scerba, Jr. and Soo Ja Yanoski.
Jim was a 1987 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, then went on to receive his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Youngstown State University. Upon graduation, he started his career working at DeBartolo Corporation. As he gained more knowledge, experience, and connections, he joined into a partnership, and then moved to start his own business. He was the skilled and friendly owner/operator of Laptoptions, LLC in Niles for over 10 years, where he was an active member of the small business community.
Jim was a loving father, dear son, wonderful brother, and loyal friend. He loved spending time with family and friends. He was a great guy, kind, intelligent, fun, and considerate. Jim was so proud of his children and cherished his quality time with them at home and going to places like concerts and sporting events. He appreciated music and enjoyed karaoke and playing his guitar. He stayed close to his many lifelong friends through their shared love of sports. Jim was very athletic and was a devoted Seattle Seahawks and Cleveland Indians/Guardians fan. He played many years in bowling, flag football, and softball leagues. Jim was also a competitive pool player. He was loved and admired by the local pool community for his skill and his easy-going personality. He was always fair and ready with a quick laugh.
Jim leaves to cherish his memory, his three children, Owen Scerba of Austintown, Jay Scerba of Boardman, and Macey Scerba of Naples, FL; his mother; his sisters, Catherine (Troy) Butcher of Warren and Sandra (Louis) Wiesen of Liberty; his nephews, Steve, Jared (Alexis Savinda), and Lucas Wiesen; and many other dear family members and countless friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, paternal grandparents, Stephen and Vera Scerba; and maternal grandparents, Jo Whan Wook and Jang Len Jung.
A burial service will take place on February 10, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Calvary Cemetery, 248 S. Belle Vista Avenue, Youngstown, OH 44509. A Celebration of Life luncheon will follow at 1:00 P.M. at The Elm Tree, 170 Walton Street, Struthers, OH 44471.
A memorial pool tournament is being planned.
Arrangements were entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. Boardman.
