Joanne Sears Obituary

Joanne F. Sears, 77, of Stoneboro passed away in her residence Saturday evening, June 17, 2023. Joanne was born December 26, 1945, in Towanda, PA, a daughter of the late Henry Kuykendall and Gladys (Sink) Barnes, and was a 1963 graduate of Sayre High School, Sayre, PA. She worked as a teacher's aide in the Holland and Cuba school systems, both in New York. Joanne was active with the American Field Service (AFS) Intercultural Programs/USA exchange students program. She enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Holland and Jamestown Garden Clubs. Joanne was a master flower show judge for the National Garden Club (NGC), along with the local chapter, District 8. She was the director of the Creative Arts/Flower Show Department for the Erie County Fair, and also mentored and instructed classes on flower show design. Most of all, Joanne considered the opportunity to care for her family as a homemaker to be the most rewarding job of her life. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Joanne is survived by two daughters, Jolene McEwen and her husband, Mike, Hermitage, and Nicole Sears, East Concord, NY; two brothers, Allen Kuykendall, Franklinville, NY, and Bob Kuykendall and his wife, Edie, Greenville; and two grandchildren, Nick Sears and Lily McEwen. Per Joanne's wishes, there will be no services.
