John D'Avico Obituary

John T. D'Avico, III, 41, of Hermitage, passed away surrounded by family and friends on Thursday afternoon, August 28, 2025, following a courageous three-year battle with ALS. John was born November 29, 1983, in Lansdown, PA, a son of John T. D'Avico, Jr. and Roseann (Muldoon) D'Avico. In 2002, he graduated from Bishop Shanahan High School in Downingtown, PA, and later earned his associate's degree from Pittsburgh Technical Institute in Oakdale, PA, finishing his bachelor's degree in 2008. John began his career working as an IT Specialist at Dell, Inc., Philadelphia, PA. For the last seven years, he has worked as a Senior IT Analyst for Mars Area School District, Mars, PA. An avid Eagles fan, John loved his roles as husband and father. He cherished the time spent baking with Emily and enjoying WWE events with his son, Vincent. John loved to travel with his wife, Melissa, and spend time with family and friends. You could find him out on the town or huddled around a campfire. He always said, "I am a wealth of useless knowledge, and the Dad joke King" - his love for trivia and game shows was always shining. His kindness and loyalty to others will never be forgotten. His beloved wife of nearly 9 years, Melissa (Koopman) D'Avico, whom he married October 16, 2016, survives at home. John is also survived by his two children, Vincent and Emily D'Avico, both of Hermitage; his mother, Roseann D'Avico, Newtown Square, PA; a sister, Ashley Joines (John), Philadelphia, PA; and his maternal grandmother, Catherine Muldoon, Lansdown, PA. John was preceded in death by his father, John T. D'Avico, Jr. In lieu of flowers or trees, memorial contributions may be directed to John's Memorial Fund, online at: John's Memorial Fund. All donations received will go towards supporting his children's education. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2025, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon, PA. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.McGonigleFuneralHomeandCrematory.com. A memorial service will immediately follow at 6 p.m., in the funeral home, with Pastor Ryan Ervin, officiating.
