Joseph Laxton Obituary

Joseph H. Laxton, 1942-2024: Joe passed away peacefully and is on his way to his eternal fishing trip on a river bank in heaven. Joe was born in Fresno, California to Ruth and Stanley Laxton. Joe loved fishing for catfish and was so good at it, he earned the nickname 'Catfish Joe'. He also loved picking his guitar, singing, writing songs, Merle Haggard and a night out two-stepping with a cold beer. Joe was a true 'Okie From Muskogee' Joe was preceded in death by both parents, brother's Benny, John, Bob, sisters Linda, Dora, Diane and Barbara Jean. Survived by his daughters Vanessa, Bethann, and Lea. He was known to all his grandchildren and great grandchildren as none other than 'Papa Joe'. Joe was also survived by his lifelong friend that he loved and considered a brother, Roger Quick. He has lived in many states and had some wild adventures and a lot of stories. Joe moved from Oklahoma to Ohio to be closer to his daughter Vanessa, or as he called her, 'Sugar Plum' in 2019 and remained there till his final day on earth. May you be at peace and be encompassed by the greatest feeling of love you've ever known by your maker. Give Grandma a kiss for us. Dad, know you were loved and always will be. See you in the stars, and feel you with every Merle Haggard song we play. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Joseph, please visit our Tree Store.
