Juanita DiCenso Obituary
Juanita "Nita" Ruth DiCenso passed away at home on Monday September 8, 2025. Nita was born on March 30, 1931, in Youngstown, Ohio the daughter of Doris Ditzler King. She was selfless from the start working while in school to help provide for her younger siblings, developing early independence and inner strength. She loved life and she loved to dance, especially the 'jitterbug', and especially with her boyfriend Tony who she would later marry. They met while she was working behind the counter at Gray's drugstore. He walked in, as the story goes, and was completely spellbound, buying cartons of cigarettes even though he wasn't a smoker, and the rest was history. After a big Italian wedding, lots of dancing, and a honeymoon in the Poconos, Nita would become a mother, something she was clearly born to do.
Anthony and Juanita would go on to have 6 children and celebrate 61 years of marriage.
Nita was a volunteer at the Trumbull Memorial Hospital gift shop where she enjoyed giving back to her community, but her legacy was built as a loving homemaker and an exceptional cook. As she got older her creativity was expressed through painting ceramics, traveling, and collecting seashells during winters spent on the coast in Florida.
Faith was a big part of Nita's life; attending St. Mary's every week and participating in charity was important to her. She regularly supported the Warren family mission and gave monthly to less fortunate children from around the world. She loved being a mother and a wife. Nita was loyal, hardworking, and a dedicated sports fan who prayed for batting averages to rise and jump-shots to fall. Her kids knew her for her love and strength. Her grandkids and great-grandkids knew her for her generosity and for the best meal of their week. The family dinners she hosted every Sunday after church for decades will forever be a cherished memory.
For Nita, family was everything. (Unless the Cavs, Guardians, or Buckeyes were playing). Everyone will remember her warm and caring smile.
Surviving are her six children, Renee (Steve), Brenda (Rick), Marcie, Jacki (Tom), Anthony, and Roseanne. Her eight grandchildren, Josh (Jenny), Jeremy (Vanessa), Cody, Cory, Natalie, Clayton (Alex), Gabriella, and Abigail. And six great-grandchildren, Dominic, Anthony, Austin, Gracie, Julian, and Joel. She was preceded in death by her husband Anthony DiCenso Jr., her sisters Johanne and Dora May, and her brother Danny.
Nita, we'll miss you and keep your memory alive in our hearts-thank you for giving us so much. We love you forever.
