Kenneth Matvey Obituary

Kenneth N. Matvey, 45, of Hermitage, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 21, 2022. Ken was born September 1, 1977, in Sharon, a son of Norman and Rose (Yourchisin) Matvey. He was a 1996 graduate of Hickory High School, where he was on the football, softball, and wrestling teams. He is a member of St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church, Hermitage, where in his younger years had been an altar boy. Ken had previously worked in retail, mills and construction where he was a heavy equipment operator. An avid Pittsburgh Steeler and Pirates fan, he also enjoyed NASCAR, hunting and fishing; especially with his brothers. Ken had a passion for drawing and also enjoyed listening to all types of music and spending time with his family. He is survived by his parents of Hermitage; a daughter, Gabriella Matvey, Sharon; a sister, Kimberly (David) Steingrabe; two brothers, Brian and Christopher Matvey (his twin), all of Hermitage; and five nieces and nephews, Krista and Alyssa Ivan, Cody Parcetich, and Dylan and Hayley Matvey. Calling hours will be 1 p.m. until the time of the service Thursday (09/29/2022) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 East State St., Sharon. Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, in the funeral home, with Rev. Kevin Marks, officiating.
