Larry Dean Simpson Sr.

Larry Dean Simpson Sr., 83, of 1670 Norwood Street, N.W., Warren, OH, departed this life Friday, July 5, 2024 at 8:30 a.m. at Trumbull Regional Medical Center, following a cardiac arrest. He was born November 5, 1940 in Jamestown, KY, the son of Marion Stanley and Ethel Mae Bradshaw Simpson, residing in the area for 77 years, coming from Kentucky. Larry was employed with W.C.I. Steel Corporation for 40 ½ years as a Mill Wright, before retiring in 1990. He formerly worked for the United Steel Workers Local 1375 as a Civil Rights Representative and Trustee. He was a 1958 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. He was a member of Grace AME Church, King Solomon Lodge #57, Bezaleel Consistory #935, a 32 Degree Mason and co-founder and past President of the Community PTA. His hobbies included shopping, smoking cigars, traveling and was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. He married Virginia Cunningham Simpson September 15, 1985. Besides his wife of Warren, he leaves to mourn one son, Larry D. Simpson Jr. of Warren; two daughters, Ms. D'Juana Simpson of Cleveland and Ms. Alethea Williams of Warren; two stepsons, Mark (Tia) Engram of Columbus and Chris (Krista) Williams of Warren; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Betty (Amos) Haynes of Youngstown, Ms. Rachel Williams and Mrs. Raquel (Christopher) Murray and Ms. Heather Williams all of Warren; one brother, Marshall (Bertha) Lloyd of Indianapolis, IN; one sister, Ms. Grace Taylor of Jamestown, KY; twenty-six grandchildren; sixty-five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, George (Nora) Taylor and twin sister, Ms. Loretta Simpson. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 12:00 noon, with calling hours from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at the Grace AME Church. A Masonic Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Burial will take place at Pineview Memorial Park Cemetery. Condolences can be sent to Mrs. Virginia Simpson, 1670 Norwood Street, N.W., Warren, OH 44485.
