Lilley WHITE Obituary
Lilley Sarah Rainey White, 105, of Warren, OH departed this life Monday, August 25, 2025 at St. Joseph Eastland Medical Center.
She was born November 27, 1919 in Fairburn, GA, the daughter of Oscar Rainey and Lollie Rainey Pickett, residing in the area for 93 years, coming from Cleveland, OH.
She received her education from Howland High School, Warren Business College and the Renee School of Cosmetology. She received her cosmetology and managers license and worked at the Town & Country Beauty Salon.
Lilley was a Reporter for the Cleveland Call & Post in Cleveland, OH. Her most vivid memories as a reporter was the interview of the Heavyweight Champion of the World, the late Joe Louis. She also worked for General Electric, retiring in 1983. She was employed with the Hampshire House for 10 years as a Manager, before retiring in 2002.
She was a member of the Second Baptist Church, one of the charter members of the Warren Civic League, the Volunteer Council Club, the Zan Zeck Club and enjoyed gospel music, drawing and gardening.
She married Perry White August 5, 1971, he died November 20, 2011.
She leaves to mourn one daughter, Mrs. Sandra (Harry) Pugh of Warren; one sister, Ms. Willie Mae Jenkins of California; four grandsons, Atty. Stanley (Patricia) Elkins of Braceville Township, Ronald B. Elkins Jr. of Atlanta, GA, Stephen (Donna) Bryant of Warren and Joseph Bryant III of Cortland; eight granddaughters, Ms. Sharon Elkins Mc Elroy of Tacoma, WA, Ms. Vanessa Elkins (Tony) Rogers of McDonough, GA, Dr. Charlene Pugh of Stockbridge, GA, Ms. Tanya Collins of Hampton, GA, Mrs. Celeste (Devon) Hall of Milton, GA, Ms. Tami Elkins of McDonough, GA, Ms. Tiffany Abdulsamah and Mrs. Kimberly (Ette) Bryant-Ntekim both of California; 28 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Ms. Geraldine Bryant and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Joseph R. Bryant; one daughter, Ms. Evelyn Elkins; one brother, Walter Picket; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Second Baptist Church, Calling Hours from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Pineview Memorial Park Cemetery.
Arrangements of comfort were handled by the Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Home.
