Lucy Donofrio Obituary

Lowellville – Lucy E. Donofrio, 100, God's Good and Faithful Servant, was called Home peacefully Friday morning, May 9, 2025, surrounded by her family. Lucy was born on September 9, 1924, in Youngstown, the daughter of Donato (Ellenico) and Mary (Medeglia) Lellio. She worked in the lunch kitchen at Lowellville School before staying home to raise her children. She was a devout Catholic and faithful member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, its Altar and Rosary Society, and the Ladies Mt. Carmel Society. Lucy's love for her entire family was evident in her open home, where everyone was invited to share meals and conversation beneath the grapevine. Family celebrations, bringing them all together, were a particular joy for her. Her husband Anthony L. "Tony" Donofrio, whom she married June 3, 1942, passed away July 22, 2010. Lucy will always be remembered lovingly by her two sons, Robert "Bob" Donofrio and John (Diane) Donofrio; eight grandchildren, Joanne (Frank) Jerauld, Christine (Jamie) Rudzik, Gina (Darren) Cope, Kathryn (Eric Vidman) Donofrio, Nicole Donofrio, Samantha (Ramon) Cavalier Mata, Tony (Maddie) Donofrio, and Nicoletta (Cory) Papalas; fourteen great grandchildren, Michael, Frankie, Thomas, Giuliana, Athena, Aria, Ares, Apollo, Amara, Lucia, Atlas, Rachel, Sophia, and Karoliana; daughter-in-law, Sally Donofrio; sister-in-law, Mary Donofrio; and many loving nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Lucy was preceded in death by a daughter, Novella Marie; a son, Anthony R. Donofrio; daughter-in-law, Georgette Donofrio; seven siblings and their spouses, Virginia (Ben) Marapese, Dominic (Rose) Lellio, Angeline (Joe) Fuline, Frank J., Sr. (Nellie) Lellio, Andrew (Mary) Lellio, Rose (John "Jack") Cavalier; and Donald (Sandra) Lellio; nephews, Mark Cavalier, Donald Lellio, and Joe McCormick; niece, Mary Jane McCormick; and great nephew Chad Cavalier. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, May 12, 2025, at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Lowellville, followed by an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Avenue in Boardman Family and friends are encouraged to offer prayers for the family and support via phone call, text, email or may visit the Book of Memories at www.rossifunerals.com.
