Madison Clinkscale Obituary
Tacoma, WA – It is with heavy hearts that we share Madison F. Clinkscale III, 61 of Tacoma Washington transitioned to eternal peace on June 20, 2025. Clink, as he was affectionately called, was born November 26, 1963, in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Betty L. Askew and the late Madison F. Clinkscale Jr. Clink was a radiant light in the lives of many and will be profoundly missed.
As a proud alumnus of The Rayen School, Madison earned his machine shop certification from Choffin Career & Technical Center, showcasing his love for learning that never wavered. As a lifelong learner, Clink was always the one to seek out new knowledge, enrolling in various courses and workshops to sharpen his skills.
In 1993, he took a leap of faith and relocated to Tacoma, where he made a home for himself embracing life with style and a flair for the flamboyant. His career spanned many years in the electrical field, most recently as an electrical journeyman for the Tacoma Port of Authority, and he also contributed his skills to Tacoma Power and Gas.
A true sports enthusiast, Madison bled blue and silver as an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. In his earlier days, he donned the gloves as a fighter with the Gene Minor boxing club, even making waves in the Golden Gloves. His passion for boxing never dulled, as he continued to train recreationally under Olympic gold medalist Sugar Ray Scales in Tacoma. Those who knew him can still hear his laughter and the joy he found in both watching his favorite teams and passionately sharing accounts of his past boxing bouts.
Madison was truly a man of distinct taste, known for his dapper attire, classic hats, and impeccably tailored coats that matched his vibrant personality. He had an eye for beauty, which was especially evident in his profound appreciation for classic cars. His cherished little blue 1957 Rambler, a generous gift to his late Uncle Frank Payden, which reflected his love for nostalgia and all things vintage.
In his downtime, Madison found joy in staying active, whether it was pushing his limits at the gym or the thrill of attending fight matches. Above all, he cherished moments spent with family and friends, creating memories that will be forever etched in the hearts of those who knew him.
Clink leaves to cherish his memories, his loving mother Betty of Youngstown and his legacy will be sustained by his daughter Jasmine D. Bailey and granddaughter Emiko Bailey of Chicago, Il.
Precious moments will remain embedded in the hearts of his sisters Marilyn Denise Davis, Kathleen "Kat" Felder and Danette "Mable" (Jason)Young all of Youngstown, as well as his aunts Laureen Spivey and Lorene Payden; nieces Latonia (Terrance) Lawrence and Lakesha (Max)Livingston; Tabranda (Eric) Moore, Kortina Martin, Danisha Alli, Domonique Askew and Mya Young, along with his nephews Ahsehale Thomas and Daniel Douglas.
Clink will be lovingly remembered by his life partner Tessa Hall and bonus child Justice Laney-Hall, both of Tacoma. While he leaves a cadre of friends and who loved him, it is recognized that Clink shared a special brotherhood bond with Matt Snipes of Youngstown and Ronald Beard of Tacoma Washington, which exceeded the distance of time and space.
As Clink crossed the celestial shores, he was reunited with the elders at the ancestral table which included his father Madison Jr. and stepfather Daniel Askew Sr.; maternal grandparents James and Mable Payden; paternal grandparents Madison Sr. and Mattie Clinkscale; brothers-in-law Herman Davis and Willie Jim Felder; aunt Ardene Venable and uncles Frank and James Payden, all who heralded him into eternity.
In remembrance of Clink's life, the family invites the community to join them for an 11:00 AM Memorial Service on Saturday July 19, 2025, at Grace Evangelistic Temple Church 2214 Mahoning Ave, where Pastor Tracey L. Dawson of New Covenant Church of the Nazarene will officiate. As we gather to celebrate his life, we invite all who knew him to come together and share the love, laughter and memories that Clink brought into our lives.
Clink may have departed from this world, but his legacy of love, laughter, and resilience will continue to shine brightly in our lives. As we remember him, let us carry forward the lessons of compassion and joy that he so effortlessly imparted.
