Marilyn Rakocy Obituary

Poland - Marilyn J. Rakocy, 91, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2024 at Shepherd of the Valley in Poland. 

She was born January 11, 1933 in Allegheny, Pennsylvania, a daughter to the late "Grandpa" and Wilhelmina (Wunderlich) Harris. She graduated from Poland High School. 

Marilyn taught Sunday School at Poland United Methodist Church, where she was a member. She was involved in attending Al-Anon meetings around Struthers and Poland, where she assisted area family members cope with alcohol and substance abuse. She also enjoyed keeping in touch with friends and distant family members.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sons, Douglas R. Rakocy of New Albany, and Mark Rakocy of Niles; and her two grandchildren, Andrew and Ashley Rakocy. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert J. Rakocy.

Per Marilyn's wishes, there will be no calling hours or services.
