Michael Notareschi Obituary
Poland – Michael Notareschi, 88, of Poland, passed away at his residence on Friday evening, October 25, 2024, with his loving family by his side.
He was born August 24, 1936, in Villa Sant'Angelo in the province of L'Aquila, Italy, the son of Nazzareno and Ernestina (Marcotulio) Notareschi. Michael came to the United States settling in the Mahoning Valley in 1955 and was proud to have become a United States citizen.
Mike began his career working at Republic Steel for 2 years until he then embarked for over the next 40 years with Aqua Ohio working as a crew member and service man until his retirement in 2000.
Mike was a true patriarch for his family, and always made them his number one priority. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, Youngstown and enjoyed fishing, hunting and working in his precious vegetable garden. Which he attended meticulously. Mike was an excellent bocce player and participated in numerous leagues (ARCO, Pacentro and St. Anthony Society in Lowellville) where he made numerous friendships and always looked forward to a competitive game. He was an avid sports fan watching the men's soccer World Cup and especially football where he would root on his favorite teams, The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns.
Mike leaves behind to hold onto his memories, the love of his life and his wife of over 62 years the former Maria Giannetti whom he married in Italy on June 24, 1962, a son Michael A. (Gina) Notareschi of Canfield, daughter-in-law Renee Notareschi of Poland, his granddaughter and the apple of his eye Dina (Joe) Arendas of Lowellville, his 97 year old sister Maria of L'Aquila, Italy, a brother Ezio (Linda) Notareschi of Stillwater, Oklahoma and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Besides his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his son Reno Notareschi and two sisters Josephine Innocenzi and Ada Coletti.
Family and friends may pay their respects to Mike on Thursday, October 31, 2024, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St. Boardman.
There will be a prayer service held on Friday, November 1, 2024, at 9:15 am at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, Boardman, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, 343 Via Mount Carmel, Youngstown with the Very Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Cariglio as celebrant.
Burial will take place at Poland Riverside, Poland.
Mike's family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the entire staff of Akeso Hospice and especially to Betsy for all the care and compassion shown to Mike and his family throughout this difficult process.
