Nathan Fields Obituary

Obituary For Nathan Edward Fields Jr. With heavy hearts, we celebrate the life and legacy of Nathan Edward Fields Jr., who departed this world on February 22, 2024, in the embrace of his loved ones at Hospice of The Valley Hospice House. Nathan, affectionately known to many as Ricky, was born on September 17, 1954, in Lackey, VA, to the union of the late Nathan Sr. & Thelma (Nettles) Fields. Nathan was the epitome of the Renaissance Man, always dapper and debonair even in his "casual gear." He was a proud 1974 graduate of East High School and identified as a Golden Bea. He also attended Choffin Vocational School where he acquired his skill and nurtured his passion for home improvement projects. He enjoyed home projects and loved honing his carpentry skills whenever an occasion presented itself. Nathan was always ready for the "next" project. He had a passion for outdoor landscaping and made optimal usage of an acreage of land. Nathan was a lover and student of God's word, preferring instructional time such as Bible study and daily devotions. He attended the Rising Star Baptist Church and served its Trustee Ministry; he was a formerly associated with Metropolitan Baptist Church where he served on the deacon ministry. While Nathan enjoyed hosting family gatherings and events, he also appreciated his secluded time within the mancave. He was a lover of R & B, Jazz and Old School Music, yet he also found contentment watching Inside Edition and Family Feud telecasts. Nathan had a fondness for his cherry red 2006 Pontiac Solstice sportscar. Nathan had an appreciation for the simple pleasures in life such as Chick-Fil-A sandwiches and McDonald's fries. It was a common practice to take evening drives after dinner with his wife to remote areas, simply to appreciate the environment. Summertime required frequent visits to Handel's Ice Cream. Nathan intentionally made memories out of the moments. Professionally Nathan was a respected production foreman in the manufacturing industry, having worked for Parker Hannifin formerly known as Commercial Shearing. Even upon retirement, he continued to foster and sustain amicable relationships outside of the company. He leaves to cherish fond memories, his beloved wife, Alicia Fields, as well as a large, blended family tree comprising numerous biological and bonus children which includes Neal (Happy) Monroe of Columbus, Brian Monroe of Cleveland, Adeline Monroe of Warren, Melissa (Ronald) King of Las Vegas, NV, Tamala Fields of Atlanta and Guy Monroe, Tameicka Fields, Tonya (Joshua) Thornton, Natalie Fields, Kimberly Harris, Mark Harris and Jordan Harris all of Youngstown. His legacy will be embraced by siblings Christabelle Neal, Donald (Angelique) Fields, Randy Fields, Vanessa (Kenneth) Montgomery all of Youngstown and Stacey Fields of Maryland. His memory will also be sustained by a score of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. As he takes place among the ancestors, he was preceded in eternal life by his parents, former spouse, Adeline "Addie" Armstead- Fields and infant daughter Jennifer Fields. A Celebration of Life service for Nathan will be held at Rising Star Baptist Church, 2943 Wardle Avenue, on Tuesday March 5, 2024, where Pastor Kenneth Donaldson will officiate and deliver the eulogy. There will be a public viewing and family visitation at 10:00 am. All are invited to join in honoring Nathan's memory at this time of remembrance and reflection. Following the funeral service, Nathan will be laid to rest at Tod Homestead Cemetery. A man of dignity and compassion, Nathan will be dearly missed by his family, friends and all who were blessed to know him. May his soul find eternal peace, and his memory continue to inspire those whose lives he touched. The family of Nathan E.
