Norman Thornton Obituary
He was born August 17, 1954 in Warren, OH, the son of Cleveland and Evelyn Thornton Pope Sr.
Norman was employed with Easco Aluminum for 15 years as a Millwright, before retiring in 2014 and attended Warren Western Reserve High School.
He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, watching movies and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
He leaves to mourn two sons, Norman L. (Jennifer) Thornton Jr. of Atlanta, GA and James E. Thornton of Erie, PA; one daughter, Mrs. L'Oreal (Joseph) Vance of Warren; five brothers, Cleveland Pope Jr. of Warren, Keith O'Neal (Leslie) Pope of Willard, Seth Myron (Lindsey) Pope of East Tawas, MI, Ron Gueringer and Nick (Chelia) Gueringer both of Los Angeles, CA; four sisters, twin Mrs. Norma Jean (Richard) Emerson of Howland, Mrs. Claudeen (Dean) Weber of Doylestown, Mrs. Tina (Donnie) Woods of Belleville, MI and Denise (Gerald) Williams of Los Angeles, CA; six grandchildren, Norman L. Thornton III, Nathan Thornton, James Thornton Jr. and Jeremiah Thornton, Ms. Unique Thornton and Miss Josephine Thornton and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Anthony Essex Pope and Tony Gueringer and one sister, Ms. Diane Marie Pope.
Condolences for the family may be sent to Mrs. L'Oreal Vance, 395 Trumbull Avenue, SE, Warren, OH 44483.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, December 6, 2024 at 12:00 noon, with calling hours from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at the Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Chapel.
Arrangements of comfort were handled by the Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Home.
