Patrick Yoder Obituary

JOHNSTON - Patrick "Ellis" Yoder, 91, departed this life to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at St. Joseph's Warren Hospital, following a recent illness.
Ellis was born on November 16, 1932, the second son of Lester and Calena (Jordan) Yoder, in Burton Station, OH. He was a 1950 graduate of Johnston High School. Ellis was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served during Korean War as a mail courier and received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and the Korean Service Medal. He married the former Kathryn (Katie) Wagner on March 3, 1956, and established his family in Johnston Township working as a builder. He served a term on the Maplewood Board of Education as a Board Member. Ellis was a loyal supporter of Israel traveling there over a dozen times working on missionary trips with various organizations, including Bridges for Peace. He was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and attended Journey Christian Church. He enjoyed spending his spare time gardening, working on his Kubota tractor, cutting wood on his buzz saw, and studying the Hebrew language. He could make anything work from the supplies he had on hand and invented several ingenious creations.
Ellis is survived by his wife, Kathryn, of nearly 68 years; 3 sons: Daniel (Pamela) Yoder, Ronald (Eva) Yoder, and Mark (Jo-May) Yoder, all of Johnston Township; a daughter, Rhonda Sue (Dale) Osborn of Kirtland, OH; 2 sisters: Barbara Lutz and Helen Shevel; and a brother, William Yoder. His legacy lives on through his 10 grandchildren: Joshua (Crystal Springs) Yoder, Tara (Daniel) Gladd, Michael (Marlie) Osborn, Rebecca (Mario) Jimenez, Sarah (Eric) Bader, Daniel (Jamie) Osborn, Elissa (Jordan Fender) Yoder, Kaitlyn (Rogelio) Cantu, Solomon (Kayla) Yoder, and Liza Yoder. He was also blessed with 9 great-grandchildren: Logan, Ryan, Oliver, Benjamin, Alivia, Gavin, Maverick, Cecila, Lena, and another on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings: Everett Yoder, Robert Yoder, and Pearl Green.
In honor of Ellis's life, calling hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 18th, at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home in Warren. Additional calling hours will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 19th, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m.
Interment will follow at Johnston Township cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Ellis's name to Journey Christian Church for the Jerusalem Cornerstone Foundation.
