Ronald Koshar Obituary
Ronald J. Koshar, 75, of Hermitage died Friday afternoon, February 21, 2025, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.
Ron, a firecracker from the start, was born on July 4, 1949 in Sharon. The son of Joseph and Margaret (Getz) Koshar, he graduated Hickory High School in 1967, then attended Penn State University – Shenango Campus, and later graduated from Youngstown State University with a degree in Business Management.
Ron started his financial career at a small local firm and soon convinced, A.G. Edwards & Sons, to open a branch office in Hermitage along with two other regional satellite offices which he managed. Throughout his long, dedicated career with them, he consistently ranked in the Chairmen's Club of Premier Advisors and was a top producer with the firm-earning accolades, awards, and many wonderful trips. The highest professional pride for Ron though was always helping his clients. He helped enable hundreds of people throughout the region, including many first-generation investors and retirees, achieve their financial goals and dreams. The office was later acquired by Wells Fargo Advisors where he would sunset his career.
Above and beyond his professional life, Ron was a joyful soul, a loving and devoted husband, and a generous and gregarious family man. He married the love of his life, Starlit June (David) Koshar on August 15, 1980, and together they forged a 45-year marriage filled with romance, adventure, friends, travels, family, and laughter. Several of Ron's favorite pastimes were fly-fishing for trout, cowboying out west, planting flowers for his neighbors to enjoy, and spending quiet time in the woods. Mostly he loved seizing opportunities both to help people and to make them laugh. An irreverent and jovial spirit, his loved ones will remember his favorite holiday tradition: decorating (trashing) his car, filling it with gifts to pass out to strangers, and seeing the smiles and surprised looks on people's faces as he'd drive by. Ron was a magnanimous and humble man - the ways in which he touched others' lives are varied, many, and often unique.
Ron is also survived and deeply missed by a beloved son, Joshua Koshar, of Pittsburgh, PA; Renee Grazulis, of Florida; and three grandchildren; Kiegan, Kylan, and Kaeden Mitchell, all of Columbus, OH; and a sister, Rebecca Gunderson (Jeffrey).
Ron was preceded in death by his parents.
