Maryland - Rose entered peacefully into eternal rest on June 3, 2023. She will be remembered by her sisters-in-law:
Sue Moran of Fallston, MD and Martha Moran of Ravenswood, WV; nieces: Julie Newton, Rita McCoy,
Annette Nelson, Barbara Schade, Janet Hatfield and Peggy Sutton; nephews: Joseph, John, Dan, Michael
P., Michael V., and Robert Moran, and Bobby Wright; 12 great nieces and 12 great nephews; five great-
great nieces and one great-great nephew. She also will be deeply missed by her Westie, Dee-Dee.
Rose was born May 3, 1940, in Orlando WV, the daughter of the late Michael V. and Marguerite
Sweeney Moran. Rose was preceded in death by her husband-Dick; at a very young age and by her
parents at the age of 8. At that time, she went to live with relatives Kate Carney, Margaret and John
Dolan in Clarksburg, WV. They too, preceded her in death; along with her brothers Joseph E., Fallston,
MD, John M., Fullerton, MD and Paul Moran of Ravenswood, WV., in-laws Ann and Walter Lubert; sister-
in-law Betty Moran; 5 aunts and 10 uncles.
Rose moved to Clarksburg, WV in 1948 and in 1962 moved to Warren, Ohio; then moved to Fallston, MD
in 2015. Rose was united in marriage with John R. (Dick) Lubert, June 19, 1965. She was a graduate of
Notre Dame High School in Clarksburg, WV. Rose earned a BA degree in elementary education from
Fairmont State University, Fairmont, WV. She did graduate work at Youngstown State University and
Kent State University. She was employed by Warren City Schools as a fourth-grade teacher at McKinley
Elementary School. She retired in 1990 with 31 years from a profession that she truly loved. Rose was
secretary and membership chairman of the Warren Federation of Teachers; member of Warren
Education Association; life member of National Education Association, Ohio Education Association and
Trumbull County Retired Teachers Association; and nominated National Teacher of the Year in 1989.
Rose was co-owner of Sunny Croft Country Club, Clarksburg, WV. She loved to play golf – starting at age
8. She belonged to six leagues and held offices of president and handicap chairman. She enjoyed
bowling in 4 leagues and was a member of the 600 Club. Rose was a life member and secretary of the
West Highland White Terrier Club of Northern Ohio. She started showing Westies in 1979. Rose
belonged to Delta Zeta National Sorority at Fairmont State University. She was vice president, secretary
and song leader. She received the gold award for 50 years of membership. She volunteered at Trumbull
Memorial Hospital;
Heart Association;
American Cancer Society; and summer golf workshops for
children. Rose was a founding member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She was active as a CCD
teacher; choir member; lector; cantor; Eucharistic minister; parish council member; chairman of
fellowship and social commission; adult altar server and assisted with baptisms and funerals.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2023 from 6pm to 8pm at Staton-Borowski Funeral Home. Committal will take place at the chapel at All Souls Cemetery on Friday, June 9, 2023 at 10am.
