Rosemary De Pietro Obituary

GIRARD - Rosemary B. De Pietro, 85, passed away peacefully, Thursday evening, February 13, 2025, at Hospice House surrounded by her loving daughters. Rosemary was born November 7, 1939, in Purcellville, Virginia, the cherished daughter of the late Charles Moore and Katherine Hunt Moore. She spent her early years in Virginia before moving to the Girard area in 1958, where she built a life centered around love, family, and community. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Rosemary's greatest joy was caring for her family. She possessed a remarkable talent for sewing, creating garments and patterns from memory with exceptional skill. Her creativity extended beyond fabric, as she was also a gifted artist who found fulfillment in painting and drawing. Rosemary delighted in cooking, baking, and playing bocce alongside her husband and family. As an active member of the St. Anthony and IFH Bocce Leagues, she cherished the friendships and camaraderie the game brought into her life. She was also a devoted member of St. Rose Church. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family, creating lasting memories that will be cherished forever. Rosemary is survived by her two daughters, Christine Ford (Vince Genova) of Poland and Katherine (Wayne) Jones of Vienna; four grandchildren, Senator J.D. Ford of Indiana, Anthony (Ashley) Jones of New Middletown, Jennifer Skocik (Mark) of Cape Coral, FL., and Brian Jones of Pittsburgh; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her cousin, Alan Hummer of Virginia, who was like a brother to her. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss her dearly. Her husband of 48 years, Sam L. De Pietro, whom she married July 14, 1958, passed away October 16, 2006. Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Kinnick Funeral Home 222 S. State St., Girard. Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025, at the funeral home and continue with a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Rose Church 48 E. Main St., Girard. Interment will follow at Girard Liberty Union Cemetery where Rosemary will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband. Rosemary's family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice House for their kindness and compassionate care given to Rosemary during her final days.
