Russell Binion Obituary
Russell John Binion, a cherished husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025, in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, at the age of 78. Born on May 3, 1947, in Warren, Ohio, Russell's life was marked by his deep love for his family, his unwavering faith, and his passion for the great outdoors.
Russell graduated from Lordstown High School and soon after began a long and dedicated career at the General Motors Lordstown Assembly Plant. His dedication and work ethic earned him the respect of his colleagues throughout his years of service. Upon his retirement, Russell continued to apply his handiness and creativity to various projects, always willing to lend a helping hand to neighbors and friends.
Married to the love of his life, Dixie Dunbar Binion, of 56 years, Russell was a devoted husband who found his greatest joy in the company of his wife. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures. He was a loving father to his two sons, Arnold and Jeffrey Binion, whose lives were deeply influenced by their father's strength, integrity, and kindness.
Russell's Christian faith was the cornerstone of his existence. He lived his beliefs through his actions, embodying the love and compassion that he held in his heart for others. His faith community benefitted greatly from his participation and support, as he was always ready to extend a helping hand or a word of encouragement.
An avid outdoorsman, Russell's love for hunting and fishing was more than just a hobby; it was a reflection of his profound appreciation for nature and the serenity it provided. His happiest moments were often found in the quiet of the woods or by the water's edge, with a fishing rod in hand and the company of fellow enthusiasts or family members who shared his interests.
Russell's life was a testament to the qualities that best describe him: handy, faith-filled, and loving. His ability to fix or create almost anything with his hands was matched only by his capacity to mend hearts and build relationships. His deep, abiding love for his family and friends was evident in every interaction, and his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched.
As we bid farewell to Russell John Binion, we remember a man whose life was a beacon of light and a source of strength. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, yet his spirit will continue to inspire us. Russell's life journey was one of purpose, love, and faith, and his memory will be treasured forever in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
