Shayatta Spann Obituary

Shayatta Neshalle Spann, a beacon of love and compassion, entered into eternal peace on September 9, 2025. Born on November 11, 1973, in Chicago, IL, Shayatta brought joy and warmth to every life she touched. Shayatta's spirit was as vibrant as her smile, illuminating any room she graced. She had a unique way of bonding with her loved ones, showering each of them with the same profound love and selflessness. She was a graduate of the Rayen School and Eastern Gateway Community College. A dedicated Emergency Medical Technician, she worked tirelessly at Clemente, where she became known for her unwavering support and kindness. She loved her job at Amazon Logistics, which was a second family to her. Shayatta loved spending time and every moment with her grandkids and all the kids within the family she could gather. Her legacy is one of laughter, warmth, and countless memories, many of which will be cherished by her family and friends for years to come. Shayatta had a deep affinity for shades of purple, which is reflected in her loving, compassionate, supportive, and simply just there when you needed her nature. She was so full of life and with a smile you couldn't resist, her heart filled any room she entered. She loved fishing, bike riding, and dancing. She was the life of the party and showed love and encouragement to all she encountered. This lovely soul bonded with her loved ones differently but with all the same level of love, she leaves behind tons of memories that many can sit together and keep her beautiful spirit alive. Selflessly pouring into her family and friends any chance she could, she was one of a kind. Even in her passing, she shared the gift of herself as an organ and tissue donor to benefit the quality of life for others. Shayatta leaves behind her beloved children, Devin V, Treyvonn Q. D., Tyanna Z., and Kishay I. The joys of her life-her grandchildren: Zahniya, Timothy, Kishawn, Kiyani, and Luxuri-are left to carry her namesake and the spirit she cultivated within them. Shayatta is also survived by her father, Bud Roland, her devoted life partner, Earl, and her siblings Mary, Shaquila (affectionately known as Bonnie & Clyde), AnnaMarie Sugar, Jucinda, Jelinda, Jacquilla, and Juana. As Shayatta entered eternity, awaiting her with open arms at The Gates of Heaven included her mother Avis, son Terrez, uncle Myron and host of other family and friends. In a celebration of her life, a community gathering and public viewing will be held at the Jaylex Event Center, 2110 Glenwood Ave., on Monday, September 22, 2025, from 10:00 AM- 12 Noon with Pastor Lewis Macklin sharing words of hope and comfort at 10:45 AM. As we gather to honor and remember Shayatta, we recall her infectious laughter and love which will be missed dearly, but her spirit will forever shine through the lives she impacted with her kind heart. Until reunited in the next life, Shayatta will truly be missed yet her memory will be kept alive in by her loved ones & her Tik Toks! At this time of intimate need and personal loss, the family of Shayatta Neshalle Spann elected to entrust the Ministry of Comfort & Care, along with Transitional After-Care Arrangements to the J. E.
