Sheryl Meigs Obituary

Sheryl Ann Meigs (Slater), 63, of Girard, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 28, 2024, in the comfort of her home with her beloved family by her side after a courageous one-year battle with cancer.

Sheryl was born on March 15, 1961, in Brownsville, PA, a daughter to William and Rebecca Slater (Bixler).

After earning her degree from The Ohio State University, Sheryl passionately served as an occupational therapist for over 30 years at the Trumbull County Educational Service Center and Liberty Local Schools, where her commitment to nurturing the potential of her students helped countless children.

Sheryl was a passionate individual who cherished outdoor activities, enjoyed observing nature and God’s creation, and embraced the joys of traveling with her family. Most importantly, she held a deep affection for her grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life. She lived her life honoring and pursuing her Lord and Savior, spreading her light, joy, and encouragement to everyone she encountered.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Gregory Meigs, who she married October 3, 1987; her loving mother, Rebecca Slater; her children, Kelli (Jeffrey) Palmer and David (Rebecca) Meigs; siblings, Traci (Stephen) Bulen, Matthew (Tabatha) Slater, Mark (Vickie) Slater, and Michael (Jennifer) Slater; and grandchildren, Logan, Peyton, Everett, and Harper.

Sheryl is preceded in death by her father, William Slater.

The family will receive relatives and friends on December 7th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a memorial service commencing at 1:00 PM at Blackstone Funeral Home, located at 672 Churchill Rd, Girard, OH.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Sheryl’s church, Grace Fellowship Church through the following link: gracelives.com/give or to the pro-life Bella Women's Center through the donation link on their website: https://bellawomenscenter.com/ in Sheryl's memory. The family would like to thank Hospice of the Valley in Girard, and Dr. Robert Debernardo and the Cleveland Clinic team for their kind and compassionate care that was given to Sheryl.

Sheryl Meigs leaves behind a legacy of love that will resonate in the hearts of her family and all she touched. Her spirit will continue to guide us as we remember her kindness, resilience, and boundless love for life.
