Stephen Mirich of Youngstown passed away peacefully on Saturday May 4, 2024, at the
Hospice House. His two favorite girls were by his side, when he finally saw Jesus' face to
face. As he heard the Lord say, "Well done, thy good and faithful servant".
Steve was born on May 12, 1944, in Youngstown, one of thirteen children to the late Peter and Mary Brinsko Mirich, he was a lifelong area resident.
He graduated from Lowellville High School class of 1962.
Soon after graduating Steve enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country for four-and-half years, earning the rank of DC2.
He served on the U.S.S. CVA-60 ship and cruised the Atlantic Ocean during the Cuban Quarantine in October 1962.
He worked for the ships Damage Control Division and was on the Fire Fighting Team.
Steve was also a certified Locksmith for the Navy.
Steve married the love of his life Beverly Flicker on July 27, 1968, at the Chapel of Friendly Bells in Downtown Youngstown, they were married 55 years.
He worked for General Motors in Lordstown, as a general foreman and then paint supervisor.
He was not your normal boss and was loved by all who worked for him. He treated everyone with such respect and was fun to have for a boss.
After 35 years Steve retired in 2002. He had trouble staying retired, so he worked for Enterprise for a time.
He kept himself busy and never stopped serving the Lord. He was always looking for opportunities to help serve others.
Steve and his family were longtime members of Tabernacle Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
He served as a deacon in the church, with a joyful spirit. He was involved in a small group, worked as a youth leader for years, leading a boy's Bible study.
He was involved in men's prayer breakfast, played on the church softball, golf and bowling teams.
Steve also went on mission trips to Mexico.
He loved to spend time outside in his garden, planting vegetables and flowers. He found joy
in everything, especially times with his grandkids, swimming in the pool and with their friends.
Steve loved to ride bikes with Beverly and visit the sick together in the hospitals and pray with them.
He loved his family so much and never missed anything that they were involved in.
Steve leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife Beverly, his daughter Tammy (Brian) Loew and his son Steve (Cassy) Mirich.
He also leaves his 10 grandchildren, who affectionately called him Pap Pap.
Abigail, Isabella, Joshua, Brady, Victoria Loew, Faith (Wyatt) Conard, Maelee, Sami, Isaac and Deacon Mirich,
and great-grandchild Walker Conard; his siblings, Dolores Pavlic, Helen Morgan, Myra Mirich, Elaine (John) Omslaer, Kathy Mirich and Louie Mirich, and sister in-law Betty Mirich.
Besides his parents Steve was preceded in death by his in-laws, Robert and Margaret Flicker;
his brothers Pete, John, George, and Mike Mirich; his sisters, Mary Ann Berick and
Margie Obenauf. also, brothers-in-law Nick Pavlic, Don Morgan, Jim Berick and Oscar Obenauf, and sister-in-law Amy Mirich.
Family and friends may pay their respects to Steve on Monday May 13, 2024, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. at the Fox Funeral Home 4700 Market St. Boardman.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday May 14, 2024, at 12:00 pm. at Tabernacle Evangelical Presbyterian Church 2432 S. Raccoon Rd. Austintown, 44511,
an additional viewing will take place from 11:00 am until 11:50 am prior to the service.
