Susan J. Scott, 73, departed this world peacefully on September 21, 2024, in Salem, OH. Her journey through life was marked by a profound love for family and a passion for helping others, traits that endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Susan was born on November 8, 1950, in Steubenville, OH, to the late Michael Stanko and Elsie (Johnson) Stanko.
Susan’s warmth and kindness shone brightly in every interaction, as she dedicated her life to uplifting those around her. A true nature lover, she found solace and joy amidst the great outdoors. Whether it was sitting on her porch surrounded by friends and family or tending to her beloved lawn, Susan embraced the beauty of life with open arms. Her infectious spirit and eagerness to lend a hand were hallmark qualities that those who loved her will carry in their hearts forever.
She is survived by her cherished daughters, Lisa Miller of Scio, OH, Cynthia Ryan of Salem, OH, and step-daughter Regina (Harvey) Neal of Akron, OH. Also mourning her loss is her son, Robert Hocker of Carrollton, OH, and her loving significant other, Jerry Fortner. Susan's extended family, including her dear cousins Richard (Pam) Elliot, will deeply feel the absence of her remarkable presence. Susan will also be remembered by her six grandchildren, Cody Fray, Travis Fray, Chase Fray, Megan Hocker, Mercedes M. Patterson, and Jocelyn Arnold. She leaves behind three beloved dogs, Milo, Oscar, and Ollie, who brought her so much joy and companionship.
In her passing, Susan joins her parents, Michael Stanko and Elsie (Johnson) Stanko, as well as her husband, Charles Scott, in eternal rest. Their memories will be cherished as a testament to the love and support they shared together.
