Tracey Hummer Obituary

Tracey L. (Knauff) Hummer, age 61, of Niles, OH, known affectionately as Tracey to all who were lucky enough to cross her path, embarked on her final adventure on Saturday, May 31, 2025, leaving a legacy of laughter, love, and the unmistakable scent of a freshly cracked puzzle book. Born on July 18, 1963, in the bustling town of Warren, Ohio, to Wayne R. and Dorothy Knauff Sr., Tracey's journey began as a bright-eyed girl who would grow up to become the heart and soul of her community in Niles, Ohio, where she took her last breath. Tracey's life was a tapestry woven with threads of kindness, generosity, and an uncanny ability to befriend anyone, even a mannequin if it looked lonely enough. Her husband, the late Donald K. Hummer, whom she married in June of 2005, must be chuckling from the great beyond, knowing Tracey was about to liven up the afterlife with her friendly banter. She leaves behind her pride and joy, her son Donald "Donnie" R.R. Hummer of Niles, who inherited her wit and her unparalleled skill at finding the best deals in town; siblings, Wayne R. Knauff Jr., Janet (George) Ozanich all of Niles, Sue Enaskso and her companion (Bob) of Warren, Donna Fisher of Girard, Ohio, aunt, Charlotte (Nelson) Bond of Florida, several nieces and nephews who were very close to her and too many more to count. Especially those ones that she was very closes with, are surely reminiscing about Tracey's legendary family gatherings where the only thing louder than the laughter was Tracey's insistence that she was just "mildly competitive" at board games. Tracey's educational journey may have culminated with her GED, but she was a lifelong learner, especially when it came to the intricate art of solving puzzles. She could outwit a crossword, outlast any jigsaw that dared to challenge her. Tracey's working career at Tops Market in Niles was more than just a job; it was where she became the unofficial mayor, greeting everyone with a smile that could light up the aisles. Her main focus and responsibility was the role of homemaker and mother to her son, Donnie for who she cared for and loved until her last breath. A connoisseur of romance novels, Tracey devoured tales of love and passion, most notably those penned by Nora Roberts and Danielle Steel. Her later years were spent in pursuit of the perfect shopping spree and the elusive winning lottery ticket, a quest she undertook with the enthusiasm of a treasure hunter on the brink of a great discovery. Tracey's life was a masterclass in friendliness; she never met a stranger, only friends she had not joked with yet. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she was always the first to lend a hand or a hilarious anecdote to brighten someone's day. As we bid farewell to Tracey, let us honor her memory by cracking open a puzzle book, sharing a hearty laugh, and living life with the same zest and warmth she exuded every day. Tracey L. (Knauff) Hummer, the world was a brighter place with you in it, and your punchlines will echo in our hearts forever. Her son, Donnie, will accept cards of sympathy, thoughtfulness, and memories of his mom at Donnie Hummer, 332 Mahoning Ave, Niles Ohio 44446.
