Verda Durig Obituary

On Tuesday, July 8, 2025, Verda Jean Durig, age 91, of Mineral Ridge, OH passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side. She was born in Niles, OH on June 17, 1934, to Ervin Edward and Mildred Marie (Horne) Taggart. Verda is survived by her children, Brenda Hoffer of Mineral Ridge, Bonnie (Jerry) Piergiovanni of Ashland KY, David Durig Sr. of Lordstown, Greg (Jill) Durig of Niles; brothers, Ervin Taggart of Panama City Beach, Tom (Shirley) Taggart of Debary, Florida; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, Verda was also preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Carl Durig and granddaughter, Danelle Durig. Verda was a faithful member of the Niles congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. She graduated from Mineral Ridge High School in 1952 and enjoyed knitting, reading, writing poetry and spending time with family and many friends. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, July 12,2025 at 1:00 pm on Zoom.
